San Casciano in Val di Pesa - Florentine Chianti
San Casciano VP is a small village in the south of Florence, built between Siena and Florence, along the ancient roman road Cassia. The village offers a lot of facilities: a big supermarket, very good restaurants and pizzerias, a cinema, an olympic swimming pool, a theatre, shops, banks with ATM and pharmacies. There are interesting historical places and lots of cultural events throughout the year.
San Casciano in Val di Pesa is placed in the heart of Chianti area, an agricultural region famous for its wines and extra virgin olive oil.
Holiday home Il Visciolo is about 350 metres far from the main village square, so you can go shopping for local products or having a meal at one of the many restaurants without having to use the car. For that reason staying in a self catering accommodation is not a problem for Visciolo's guests.

Weekly market on Mondays (even on festivities). Nearby villages markets: Thursday at Mercatale and Cerbaia (in case of festivity the day after for both).
Transport services to/from Florence centre
San Casciano in Val di Pesa is connected to Florence centre and other towns and villages by a frequent, fast and cheap urban-suburban coach line provided by SITA/Autolinee Chianti. The coaches leave from a parking in the village centre, about 600 meters from our holiday house. A timetable is available on this site. Florence departures and arrivals are in the historical town centre, 60 metres beside Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station.
